Overview
This module prepares students for their international volunteering placement with key concepts like cultural awareness, ethical volunteering, and managing expectations. It’s 3-4 hours total, delivered asynchronously in Moodle via text, short videos, and reflections.

Understand cultural influences on volunteering and how to engage respectfully.
Recognize ethical responsibilities and safeguarding principles in placements.
Anticipate and prepare for common accommodation and placement challenges.
Develop the confidence that you will be able to manage and enjoy experiencing a different culture.Be ready to practise open-mindedness and self-reflection when interacting with people from other cultures.

A general introduction and three short sections, each with content, an activity, and a checkpoint question, plus a wrap-up self-assessment.
